Project 1: Starchitect

Famous architects, often called 'starchitects,' serve as significant inspirations for architecture students worldwide. Students aspire to create designs that emulate the distinctive styles and principles of these revered figures. The captivating shapes, expert use of light and shadow, and contextual modesty in starchitects' designs contribute to the admiration for their work. This project also aims to enhance architectural freehand drawing abilities and includes the creation of portraits of renowned architects. It involves the practice of architectural lettering, tonal values, and rendering. Each student is tasked with producing an A4-size drawing representing their initial concept and a final A3-size poster. Within each tutorial group, two architects have been chosen as focal points for the project. And the architect that I was chose name is Le Corbusier

Project 2:Farnsworth House drawing

In this project, I acquired the ability to sketch architectural buildings freehand. Additionally, I developed skills in selecting appropriate color media, employing a suitable color palette to convey the architect's identity effectively. Through this endeavor, I gained valuable understanding of the architectural style of Antoni Gaudi, a renowned architect. His design approach predominantly derived inspiration from organic shapes found in nature and skillfully incorporated vibrant colors.

Reflection

As a result of Project 2, my sketching proficiency has advanced, with a consistent focus on line weight throughout the project. I enhanced a two-point perspective drawing of the Farnsworth House by incorporating plants and a human figure, providing a more comprehensive understanding of scale and atmosphere. Through research on this particular architecture, I gained insights into its history and intricate architectural details. Simultaneously, I was impressed by the incorporation of glass in the design, facilitating a close connection with nature for users.

Project 3: Integration with Architecture Design Studio l

For Project 3, I show and display my architectural design on a presentation board sized A1. The board comprises an exploded axonometric, orthographic views, an abstract drawing, a tattoo stamp, and a printed version of my sketch and prior model. This compilation offers a multifaceted representation of my design, integrating diverse elements to convey the intricacies and creative aspects of the architectural project.

Reflection

Creating both a model and presentation board for my final project was a challenging journey that required persistent efforts. Despite facing repeated revisions, this experience taught me valuable lessons in perseverance, time management, and problem-solving. Navigating through challenges enhanced my resilience and deepened my understanding of the intricate aspects of architectural design. This journey has not only refined my technical skills but has equipped me with insights crucial for future pursuits in architecture.

Reflective

Reflecting on my learning journey in design communication, I've acquired valuable insights into a range of techniques such as hatching, sketching, coloring, and drawing skills. This educational experience has enriched me, providing a diverse toolkit for effectively conveying architectural ideas. Each technique learned has deepened my comprehension of design communication, making this learning process comprehensive and fulfilling. Beyond the technical proficiency gained, I've discovered the art of translating ideas into visual narratives.

In semester one, the Design Communication module proved invaluable to me, given my initial lack of experience in drawing architectural details and familiarity with famous architects. Attending lectures with unwavering attention and punctuality, I absorbed valuable knowledge from our instructors. The module's assessments and projects, especially the practical exercises in architectural lettering, significantly contributed to my learning. Regular sketching for each project improved my ability to capture scale and atmosphere, enabling me to sketch quickly with commendable results. This journey has equipped me with a diverse set of skills, laying a solid foundation for effective and creative communication in the realm of architecture. I look forward to making further progress in the upcoming semester.
